Introduction

The PRP therapy , Platelet rich plasma (also known as Stem Cell Like Therapy) is a revolutionary pain treatment therapy involves injecting platelets from the patient’s own blood to rebuild a damaged or injured muscle, ligaments, tendon or cartilage. It has been successful in not only relieving the pain, but also in jump starting the healing process. The patient’s blood is drawn and placed in a centrifuge for 45 minutes to separate out the platelets. The platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the damaged portion of the tendon or cartilage.

Since 2022, we are giving this revolutionary treatment for spine pain like “Degenerative disc disease”, “Annular tear in disc”, “Facet joint arthropathy”. Basic concept of this treatment to give complete and long standing cure to our patients.

Conditions treated using PRP Therapy

  • Tennis elbow pain
  • Heel Pain (Planter fasciatis)
  • Back of Heel pain (Tendo Achilles Tendinosis)
  • Knee ligaments Injury
  • ACL partial tear (knee)
  • Osteoarthritis knee (Grade I & II)
  • Shoulder muscle partial injury or tear
  • Rotator cuff partial / interstitial tear
  • Lumber spine degenerative disc disease
  • Lumber disc annular tear
  • Lumber facet joint arthropathy
  • Retrocalcaneal bursitis
  • Ligament sprain
  • Golfer’s elbow

The body’s first response to soft tissue injury is to deliver platelet cells. Packed with growth and healing factors, platelets initiate repair and attract the critical assistance of stem cells. PRP’s natural healing process intensifies the body’s efforts by delivering a higher concentration of platelets directly into the area in need.

HOW TO PREPARE PRP

1. Take 2 cc of anticoagulant solution in 20 ml syringe and scalp vein set for collection of blood sample.

2. Draw 18 cc of patient’s own blood and mix with anticoagulant solution in syringe.

3. Transfer blood into ” drPRP kit ” ( Made In USA )

4. Put PRP kit into the special refrigerated PRP centrifuge for separation of RBC & Plasma.

5. After centrifugation take PRP kit out, and lock it in the center part for isolation of plasma from RBC.

6. Do second centrifugation for concentration of platelets at bottom of kit above lock part.

7. Take out kit and discard upper supernent part of platelet poor plasma with 10 cc syringe

8. Now remaining 3 cc plasma is collect in syringe, this is the main ” Platelet Rich Plasma “

The PRP is then injected into and around the point of injury ( Pain problem site ) under Sonography (USG) or IITV ( live x-ray ) guidance. Because the patient’s own blood is used, there is no risk of a transmissible infection and a low risk of allergic reaction.

TIME OF PROCEDURE
The procedure typically takes a couple of hours, including preparation and giving by injection to recipient site of pain. Except for early arthritis of knee treatment we usually given this treatment once only to our patients. For arthritis knee pain it may required repetition of same treatment for 4 to 6 times every monthly.

EXPECTED RESULTS
Expected pain relief will be feel after one month to two month. Because the goal of PRP therapy is to resolve pain through healing, it typically has long-lasting results. Initial improvement may be seen within a few weeks, gradually increasing as the healing progresses. Research studies and clinical practice have shown PRP therapy to be very effective at relieving pain and returning patients to their normal lives. Both ultrasound and MRI images have shown definitive tissue repair after PRP therapy, confirming the healing process. The need for surgery can also be greatly reduced by treating injured tissues before the damage progresses and the condition is irreversible.
